This is the best microphone I've ever used. Very happy with it.

I have always bought the Martel court reporter microphones for the last 20 years. I use the HGM2 with my Luminex and also with the older Diamante and the pick up of voice is clear. If you have not experienced a Martel microphone I highly recommend it to you! You will spend less time editing.

Microphone records really well in courtroom. Playback sounds clear. I work in older courthouses with bad acoustics and having this microphone sure does help sound quality. Love how I can check the battery.

When I got out of court reporting school a couple of years ago, I bought a inexpensive microphone from the east coast. Let me tell you it awful. I have a court reporter who suggested I call Martel, because she has been using the Martel court reporter microphones for years. She said they are the best. She lent me her HGM-2 and I was shocked how clear and loud my recording where. I immediately bought 2 of the HGM-2 microphones one for my Luminex writer and one for my laptop. Awesome! Court Reporter microphone problem solved!

I have been a court stenographer for over 30 years, I go back to the time when audio recording was frowned upon and we dictated our paper notes into a cassette recorder and drove the cassette tape to a typist who typed each page out on a TYPEWRITER with sheets of carbon paper. Back then, computers were not available to us. So, since steno machines have been able TO record, I have used probably five different microphones, with and without battery. This model or some version of it has been out since my first steno machine with audio became available, maybe 20 years ago, give or take, and this is the second one I have purchased. Having tried other mics that are cheaper, with and without battery, this one is the only one I will use. It may seem expensive to some, but you get what you pay for. TIP: Someone told me the battery tester cannot always be trusted, so keep that in mind and use an alternate battery tester if you are inclined to do so. I like to be sure, so I test everyday with an old school portable battery tester.

I've used the HGM-2 for years, in my laptop and writer, and the sound is fantastic - and I've tried a lot of mics.

Microphone when used with either a steno writer with on board audio or a laptop has very good range and quality recording.

The support from Martel is awesome. I have a PMD661 with the transcription kit. I was having trouble getting the sound to play on my computer and Jason took the time to access my computer remotely and get the problem fixed. I never could have done this myself. At the same time Austin figured out that I had bought the wrong headphone adapters which was causing only mono sound from my machine on playback. Fifteen minutes, both problems solved, and at the same time Jason recommended an amazing backup recorder, which I purchased immediately. Forget Hillary and Donald, I vote for Jason and Austin for President and VP!!!!

I have to say that Martel Electronics is great in their customer service. They were very knowledgeable with not only their product, but my CAT software. They knew the proper settings to get me up and going. I would recommend them to any court reporter who wants to start using their software audiosync.

I have a élan Mira A3 and I had to turn my mic gain down from high to low. It was distorted on high but sound quality is excellent on low. Great mic!
