Your Recording Can Only Capture What the Microphone Hears
Give Your Writer a Better Chance to Hear the Entire Proceeding
Courtrooms and deposition rooms are not controlled recording studios. Speakers may sit at different distances, turn away from the reporter, lower their voices, shuffle papers, or speak from across a large table. The Martel NexGen Super Microphone provides a sensitive external pickup point designed to capture more of the voices surrounding your writer.
Clean Direct-Plug Design
No Microphone Cable Hanging from the Writer
The compact black microphone plugs directly into the microphone input on the back of the writer. There is no permanently attached cable to drape across the writer, desk, or tripod.
When another microphone position works better, connect the separate three-foot extension cable included with the Ultimate Edition Kit.
Battery-Free Reliability
Nothing Extra to Charge, Replace, or Remember
The microphone does not require its own battery. There is no charging routine, spare battery, power switch, or separate recorder to manage before leaving for a deposition, hearing, or trial.
Omnidirectional Room Coverage
Hear Voices from Every Direction
The 360-degree pickup pattern listens around the microphone rather than requiring it to be aimed at one speaker. Voice-pickup capability extends up to 100 feet under suitable room, speaker-volume, placement, and recording-level conditions.
Courtrooms
Low-profile pickup from the court reporter’s station.
Depositions
Listen around a conference or deposition table.
Legal Offices
Capture interviews, dictation, and legal meetings.
Conference Rooms
Improve pickup without a large tabletop microphone.
Designed Around Court Reporter Workflow
Practical Features for Real Proceedings
01
High-Sensitivity Pickup
Designed to improve the capture of voices and spoken details that may be difficult for a writer’s internal microphone to hear clearly.
02
360° Listening
Listens in every direction without requiring constant repositioning toward each person who begins speaking.
03
Small and Discreet
Maintains a professional, low-profile setup without placing a large microphone in the middle of the proceeding.
04
No Battery Management
Nothing extra to charge, replace, switch on, monitor, or pack before leaving for your next assignment.
05
Optional Remote Placement
Use the microphone directly in the writer or connect the included three-foot extension cable when another location works better.
06
Writer-Synchronized Audio
The microphone sends sound to the writer so the writer can create audio synchronized with the steno notes.
