This is the best replacement recorder for your old Marantz digital recorders. It has 2 inputs on the front one for your mask and one for your room microphones. The unit has phantom power for the room microphone input so you can buy the Martel Audio Grabber that does need a battery and the unit will power the microphones. The Sony recorder has a manual record level adjust knob on the front recorder for your microphones. It has built-in microphones as well. It also has a bar showing you the record levels on your mask and room microphone. The recorder records directly to an SD card. The files are in the .mp3 format left and right channels. This is perfect for your transcription software. The Sony recorder also has super built-in microphones. The recorder has 1/4 , XLR, and 3.5MM inputs for microphones. Comes With XLR Martel Microphone in the Package.

I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your service and the PMD 661.
Thank you also for clarifying how the mics work. The mic stands are excellent with the grabber mics. Now I don't need to worry about lawyers covering the mics with their documents. The package arrived within a few days, much sooner than I expected. I wanted to test it out immediately in case it wasn't much of an improvement on my old recorder. I did not read the manual and so wasn't entirely sure I'd actually get a recording. However, it's so easy to set up and use, I was very excited when I heard just how loud and crystal clear the recording was. I played it on my laptop's built-in speakers, which gives me almost nothing on my previous recorder, so I need to use external speakers or headphones. But the PMD recording was perfectly audible directly from the laptop speakers. I deliberately placed the mic at the far end of a very large conference table. The witness was a court reporter's nightmare and wouldn't raise his voice no matter how many times I'd ask him. He was right next to me, so at least eight feet away from the mic, maybe more. I can actually hear him more clearly than with my own ears. To say I'm impressed is truly an understatement. I can't believe I've been using my old recorder for five years when something like this is on the market. Thank you so much for your help. Your product is amazing and I will recommend it to anyone. Marantz pmd661 MKII instock so hard to find
I have been researching the marantz pmd661 mkII for 2 weeks now and no one except Martel had them in-stock. I was leaving for a trip and I had to have one overnighted to me. Yes it arrived the next day and had 2 free microphones and a carrying case. I wished I had found the Martel website first in the search.
