Dictation tape recorder - problems with tape-based systems have been reliability and expense.

About Digital Dictation - moving digital dictation files through email or ftp is the most cost effective way to do business.
DIGITAL DICTATION WORKFLOWS - Movement of dictation recorder files through a network then onto a server from where the dictation recorder files end up in the transcriptionist work area is called workflow.
Dictation - transcription, how it works. The digital dictation files are automatically copied to the network File Server, and a back-up of each file
is made on the PC. The recorder is then automatically erased and within a few seconds,
the dictation recorder is back at work. The transcriptionist receives an alert that dictation files are now available on the server. Once the digital dictation files are typed up they are sent automatically back to the original dictation recorder for review.
The differences between digital voice recorders and profession dictation recorder:
1. The professional digital dictation recorder has a slide control for reviewing and erasing and easy inserting of dictation when backing up to listen to the dictation.
2. When the professional dictation recorder is connected to its docking station The digital voice files are automatically copied to the network File Server, The transcriptionist gets an alert that dictation files are now available on the server.
Digital Dictation & Transcription full description and definition
The digital dictation audio files are automatically copied to the dictators computer. The software will then send the
files (encrypted for security purposes,) via e-mail to a selected transcriptionist. The dictation recorder is then automatically erased
and within a few seconds, the dictation recorder is back at work.
Dictation files should be encrypted (for HIPAA compliance) and sent to the Transcriptionist via e-mail or FTP.
The transcriptionist selects the dictation file they wish to transcribe from within their Transcription Software.
PROFESSIONAL Dictation recorders Definition:
1. Professional
recorders contain must needed additional features that help users “manage” dictation workflow.
2. handheld dictation recorders can send audio dictation files this way by setting
them in their cradle or docking station.
3. Professional dictation recorder, use the DSS format has been updated to include a DSS “Pro” format boasting better sound and additional file “headers” for encryption and file management.
4. Maximum Recording Time. The dictation recorder can show the estimated maxi-
mum recording time for the default memory included with each recorder.
5. Slide Switch Control Dictation recorder Operation allows for one-button operation of all major functions of the recording device
6. Dictation recorder, Cradle/Dock. Allows easy to transfer files to/from your PC, some recorders come with a cradle or
dock that connects via USB cable. Some cradles also recharge batteries in the recorder such as the olympus ds5000.
TRANSCRIPTION SYSTEMS definition:
